Duties/Responsibilities for a CNC Lathe Machinist:
+ Loads, Unloads, Starts, and Stops Machines.
+ Sets the feeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.
+ Watches gauges, dials, and other key indicators to make sure machines are working properly and work-pieces meet quality standards.
+ Monitors machines during operation in order to detect dull cutting tools and excessive vibration.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Senior CNC Machinist/Programmer will produce machined parts by programming, if qualified, setting up, and/or operating either a conventional, numerical control (NC), or computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintain quality and safety standards; precisely follow job packet requirements; keep records; maintain equipment and supplies; communicate effectively and work productively with Engineers, maintenance personnel, and other operators/programmers. Job Purpose

Principal Accountabilities
+ Use data collection in ERP software to log time.
+ Read work order, flow sheets and part drawing to determine all aspects of the job to be manufactured.
+ Check, using manual inspection equipment, blueprint dimensions.
+ Turn in first article and final inspection to Quality Assurance to verify dimensions and dimensions that were unable to be checked manually.
+ Run all parts required for the order.
+ Perform in process inspections during the production run.
+ Keep work area and machine clean, practice 5S principles.
+ Perform daily and monthly machine preventative maintenance.
+ Communicate with supervisor to ensure successful completion of the production job.
+ Complete any other task as directed.
+ This is a safety sensitive position.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience

Duties/Responsibilities of a Model Shop Machinist:
· Must have firsthand knowledge of the manufacturing capabilities in milling, turning, grinding, heat-treating, brazing, and general shop math.
· Required to work from drawings or prints or to do precision work and will be partly or fully engaged in setting up and operating the following machines and engage in these disciplines: Lathes, CNCM and CNCL, milling machines, precision grinding machines, saws, heat-treatment of tool steels, basic fixture design with little or no engineering assistance, and basic shop math skills that will allow for advanced master programming of CNC controlled machines.
· Must have knowledge of on-the-fly fixture design and OEM detail procurement is optimum, even though most of the fixtures will be designed by engineering and the details will be procured to engineering specifications. There will be occasions when a quick turn fixture will need to be produced without engineering assistance.
· Must have the aptitude to learn, take instructions well and needs to take a natural mechanical and problem-solving ability.
· Must have knowledge with CNCM tool room machines which make CNC controls
· Must be able to adapt to semi-conventional machine tools.
· Mastercam Programing experience is a plus.
Required Skills/Abilities of a Model Shop Machinist:
· Three years minimum Job in Aerospace industry.
· Fixture and tooling design.
· Geometric tolerance skills, certification of specialized class participation preferred.
