    **Compensation and Benefits:**

    The hourly wage range for this position is $26.20 to $43.22. Employees may be eligible for overtime.     Do you have a passion for safety while working in a team-oriented environment? Grand Canyon University's Facilities Services Department is seeking a fulltime Electrician Apprentice. The Electrician Apprentice Provide support and assistance to one or more skilled electricians.

    General work assisting the electrician including site preparation and clearance and maintaining general site tidiness, as directed by the electrician Assist with the installation, maintenance, modification and repair all electrical distribution systems and associated electrical equipment.

    Pay: $14.50

    Duration: 4-6 months.

    What you will do:

    + Assist with the inspection and testing of electrical components and systems including transformers, transfer switches and switch gears.

    + Help diagnose, repair, assemble and install various electrical components and systems.

    + Interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.

    + Use a variety of tools and techniques to complete electrical tasks.

    + Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices.

    + Obtain price quotations on materials needed; submits purchasing orders for approval.

    + Utilize work order system to record detailed handling of scheduled assignment including hours needed to complete assignment.

    + Perform work at various heights, from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other safe work areas. Fall protection safety training and equipment, if required, will be provided.

    + Ability to positively identify colors of wires.

    + Observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required

    + Wear the provided personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Including hard hats, safety glasses, safety shoes, dust masks, respirators, etc.

    What you will need:

    + High school diploma or equivalent

    + Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record

    + MUST be currently in the GCU Electrical Apprentice Program

    + Ability to work from various sizes and types of ladders.

    + Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

    + Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

    + Skill in the use of personal computers, smart phones, and related software applications.

    + Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

    + Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

    + Demonstrate an ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing, with varied groups and to work effectively with university students, faculty, and staff, as well as with professionals, governmental entities, community groups, and the general public.

    + Act collaboratively to solve problems and resolve spontaneous and unique situations with professionalism and service orientation.

    + Must pass pre-employment background investigation.

    Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939.     **Description**

    Skilled worker in the electrical/instrumentation field whose duties include, but are not limited to the removal, repair and installation of electrical components and basic to intermediate troubleshooting.

    + Perform safe completion of routine and non-routine repairs and construction

    + Perform preventive maintenance, installation and repair of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment (i.e. substations, power distribution systems, switchgear motors, motor controls, systems and components, process controls, instrumentation and pneumatic equipment)

    + Assist with troubleshooting of industrial electrical and/or instrumentation equipment

    + Perform other duties as assigned

    **Qualifications**

    **Minimum Qualifications**

    + Completion of an approved certified electronics, electrical and/or instrumentation program or minimum of two (2) years of experience or a combination of education and experience in industrial electrical and/or instrumentation repair and maintenance

    + Basic experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical circuits and connected equipment

    + Valid state drivers license

    + Must have minimum personal tools as described by the department tool list (or be able to obtain them within 90 days of hire date)

    + Able to perform the essential functions of the job at the time of the job offer with or without reasonable accommodations

    + Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude.
