**About this role:**

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Control Management Officer to support the Financial Crime Risk Management team within Corporate Risk. The Control team is responsible for partnering with their relevant business group to develop and maintain a strong control environment leading to early identification and sustainable risk mitigation. The team focuses on five areas: Risk Identification & Assessment, Control Design & Evaluation, Issues & Control Deficiencies, Control Governance & Reporting, and Control Programs.

The Lead Control Management Officer supports these functions in the Corporate Risk organization in their responsibility to design and implement risk mitigation strategies and manage day-to-day risks inherent to their own business processes and controls. The position acts as a trusted advisor to the Corporate Risk team members responsible for identifying, assessing, managing and mitigating current and emerging risk exposures. This role maintains internal partnerships with Financial Crime Risk Management, other business units, Audit and Legal, leads projects, and mentors but does not directly manage other team members.

**In this role, you will:**

+ Maintain awareness of business activity in the aligned Corporate Risk group, especially activity that could change the risk profile of the group.

+ Monitor, assess, and report out on the potential and actual impact of aligned group decisions and control environment performance.

+ Counsel aligned group leaders in the interpretation of policy, guidelines, and governance programs and/or implementation of program elements.

+ Provide risk management consulting to aligned group leaders in the design and implementation of risk mitigation strategies, and their execution of Corporate Risk business processes and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements.

+ Monitor and report on aligned group risk concentration, current and emerging risk, and risk appetite, facilitating business dialogue as needed.

+ Synthesize and evaluate aligned group risk information.

+ Escalate concerns as appropriate to Senior Management.

+ Support aligned group process owners in the design of control effectiveness assurance programs for Corporate Risk-owned controls.

+ Interface with Audit, Legal, and internal partners as needed.

+ Lead project/virtual teams.

+ Advise aligned group on Issues, Controls, Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA) and other programs.

**Required Qualifications, US:**

+ 5+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

**Desired Qualifications:**

+ Knowledge and understanding of compliance or operational risk.

+ Knowledge and understanding of operational risk management in the financial services industry.

+ Risk management and mitigation experience.

+ Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders.

+ Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals.

+ Ability to prepare management level presentations.

+ Strong risk management leadership skills.

+ Proven experience with conducting risk and process assessments.

+ Advanced knowledge of issue management policy.

+ Knowledge and understanding of Veritas and Shared Risk Platform (SHRP) such as reporting and issue management.

+ Business process experience.

+ Experience mapping business processes.

+ Experience determining the root cause of identified issues.

+ Ability to identify risks and propose mitigation plans.

+ Knowledge and understanding of operational risk management in the financial services industry.

+ Proven experience with control evaluation, design, and performance.

+ Strong experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA).

+ Experience in supporting one or more areas of risk including, Operational Risk, Model Risk and Compliance for roles aligned to these groups within Corporate Risk.

+ A thorough understanding of enterprise risk management framework including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance.

+ Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships.

+ Technical understanding of Corporate Risk operations, processes, and responsibilities.

+ Proven leadership and project management skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions and controls aligned with group's processes.

+ Deep understanding of risk framework, corporate/business policies, and programs to translate into plans for the business, function and/or risk type.

+ Ability to evaluate impacts based on changes in laws/regulations and develop company response.

+ Knowledge and understanding of operational risk management in the financial services industry.

**Job Expectations:**

+ Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
